"The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live." -Flora Whittemore
Twelve months have passed now since I put all of my official documents and my essay about why I wanted to serve as an Alaska State FFA Officer in the mail to our state staff. Nearly four years after I stepped through a doorway and into an organization I had never heard of, I was making my dream a reality. There wasn't a doubt in my mind that I wouldn't serve the 200 members of the Alaska FFA and represent many more FFA members across the country.
There is now only a little over a month until I give my retiring address as the 2011-2012 Alaska FFA Vice President. It's a feeling of excitement and anticipation, but scariness as well. This year, I won't be sitting in the chairs facing the stage in my Fairbanks FFA jacket. I won't be watching the State Officers lead us through sessions and CDE's.....instead, I will be on that stage, leading the members. Instead, THEY will be watching ME.
It's a scary thought to think that so much time has passed and that so much has been accomplished. Although I am running again for Alaska FFA State Office, this year is coming to an end and there will never be another like it. I am proud of the state I serve and the members who make it possible.
Thank you Alaska FFA!
